There’s nothing more nostalgic than taking a look at Ladysmith Shopping Centre in its historical form. Noticing the fashion of the shoppers and the printed adverts are fascinating and show the dramatic differences between then and now.

Seeing these images has prompted a display of affection for Ladysmith Shopping Centre.

Ladysmith is over 50 years old and stands as a vibrant symbol of retail evolution and community engagement.

The centre was opened in Ashton-under-Lyne and first was home to a diverse mix of shops that have expanded and evolved over the years.

As time passed Ladysmith experienced many challenges, such as the rise of the internet, online purchasing, and a huge amount of competitors popping up on everyone’s home computers.

Ladysmith has continued to adapt by listening to its customers, and communities and focussing on the needs of their shoppers.

Initially Ladysmith was designed with a practical layout and was basic in its landscape.

As it’s grown over the years we’ve seen more involvement with the local area and it’s now a bustling centre.

Focus on Community and Families

Ladysmith is continually creating events to include its much-loved community. This Christmas is a great example as they are inviting children and families to help find the presents that have fallen from Santa’s Sleigh. Supporting Local Charities

Ladysmith are thrilled to be supporting the YMCA charity during 2023 and 2024. YMCA believes in fairness and opportunity. They think that the essential building blocks for a full and rewarding life include a safe home, acceptance, guidance, friendship, physical and mental health, access to opportunities and more.
